For those of you that have bought the eBook or paperback copy of The Caseworker’s Memoirs, then I offer my most heartfelt thanks. You have the first edition, of what was only meant to be a side project of sorts, but later turned into a feature length novella.
But, as happy as I’ve been with the progress with the book, one thing I’ve been feeling for a while now, is that the cover lacks the professionalism and mood of the book. The book is about different phobias, of course, and the first edition cover (I think) matches that impression. It’s dark, it’s eerie to some extent … but I think I may have taken the wrong angle.
As much as this book is about phobias, it is also about loss, fear, grief and ultimately about moving forward through the pain and fear. It is predominantly Malcolm’s story, and although one comment about the new cover was that it was slightly “unadventurous” I do believe it is more appealing, and more professional. I don’t know, perhaps I’m biased? Let me know what you think. (click on the pic for a larger view)
And also, whilst we are talking about The Caseworker’s Memoirs, I have taken the paperback copy off sale for the time being. On Amazon, for example, it is still in stock, but in the next fortnight or so, it will be removed. I’m re-doing the paperback with the new cover, and slightly different formatting. I’ve also changed a few things, which means the manufacturing costs are less, which means I can also put it on sale for a much cheaper price – roughly £2 to be exact. Currently, it costs £7.00 or $10.73 – but the new price will be £4.99 for the UK and $6.99 for the US and Australia.
I need to wait for a proof copy to get to me and see if everything looks OK, but when that is done, the paperback will be back on sale. Although, if you wish to own a first edition, get buying now before they are removed – you never know, they could be worth thousands in my later career 😉
