I’m Going to be on the Radio!

As you’ve probably already guessed by the title; I am going to be on the radio! BBC Radio Lincolnshire to be exact and to be truthful, I’m a little nervous. I’ve never done anything like this at all, although I suppose I should be grateful that the listeners can’t actually see me – this isn’t TV.

So for the release of my short eBook, ‘Life is all but a vast array of Colours’ – I sent out a press release for it to a few local newspapers and radio stations. If I’m being honest, I never expected to hear back from any of them, but as I was laid in my hospital bed I got a phone call from BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

They were very interested in me appearing on their morning show, hosted by Melvyn Prior; who would be asking me questions about the eBook, where I got my inspiration from and who it is dedicated to. Also about the charity side and why I had decided to donate 50% of the royalties to Pancreatic Cancer UK. He said that he had read that I was also trying to get my other writings published and it would be a good opportunity to talk about that too.

WOW – what an opportunity! It’s a really weird feeling – I hope I can contain myself and answer everything ok. What a nightmare it would be to freeze live on air!

If you live in the UK and you are interested in tuning in to give me a listen then it will be on Tuesday 27th November at 10:00am. BBC Radio Lincolnshire airs at 94.9 FM – 104.7 FM.

Have you got any advice for me? What about you authors out there? Have you ever done radio and if so how did you handle it?

  1. Wow – congratulations, Dan! I’ve been on the radio a few times and my advice is to practice what you are going to say (lock yourself in the bathroom or something and talk to yourself!) The more you practice talking out loud (not in your head) the more prepared you will be for the questions. Also, think of something to say if you can’t answer a question or you get a mental block – for example ‘It was a great experience writing this book’ or ‘people have been so supportive’ 🙂

Best of luck and let us know how you go! 😀

    1. Thanks for the advice Dianne. I am nervous but what an opportunity! Give me some practise for all the fame that’s coming my way in the future ;0) – lol ….. only joking.
